Welcome to Manakin-Sabot Equestrian Center, Gladstone Equine's flagship property where top-level facilities, superior horse care, safe, expert riding instruction and horse training, as well as state of the art therapeutic services are featured in a casual yet professional environment.
Your horse’s care is our first responsibility, so our facility is a spotless and manicured operation where we use only the finest bedding materials and horse feed developed by Southern States Co-op. All of our stable hands are properly trained, and we recognize that a well-trained employee knows his job best so our staff is always encouraged to suggest improvements at all levels. MSEC carefully plans and organizes all of our special events, including instructional clinics with internationally renowned experts in order to provide the presenter and you with a useful, hassle-free and satisfying experience.

The PropertyManakin-Sabot Equestrian Center is located in the heart of Central Virginia Horse Country. Uniquely situated just five minutes from Route 288 and four minutes to Interstate 64, it’s a short thirty minute drive to Richmond International Airport and twenty minutes to downtown Richmond. The facility sits on approximately twenty-two acres in Goochland County, between Broad Street Road and Rte 6, directly across from the Deep Run Hunt Club and The Virginia Equine Clinic.The property boasts two stables, an indoor arena, ten fenced paddocks, a large pond, and an outdoor riding ring. Main Stable & Arena
The main stable and arena is a center pole design with 22 stalls on the outside walls and is approximately 225 feet long by 110 feet wide ~ The indoor arena has a double roof with insulation to keep the barn warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Each stall has a granite dust floor with thick rubber mats. There are two mist systems, one for controlling dust in the arena and one that facilitates the automatic fly spray system. Other areas of this structure include:
• Visitors/viewing lounge
• Office
• Tack Room
• Two Tacking Stalls
• One Wash Stall, with hot and cold water
• Laundry Room
• Modern men's and ladies' restrooms
Pastures and Outdoor Riding Ring
The pastures range in size from ˝ to 4 acres. A large wooden turnout shed approximately 12 x 24 is in one of the larger fields. Another field is suitable for an outside cross-country training course.
The outdoor riding ring has soft sand footing and is approximately 320 feet long by 125 feet wide. Miles of riding trails are accessible directly across the street.
Full BoardManakin-Sabot Equestrian Center’s full service horse care includes a roomy, well-lighted stall with at least one window and thick rubber mats on the floor. Your horse is fed twice each day, and that includes administering food supplements or medications which you have supplied. Your horse’s stall is also cleaned twice daily, and the horse is turned out for exercise in one of MSEC’s seven pastures every day when weather permits.In addition, your horse’s blanket is put on and taken off each day as the temperature requires. Finally, MSEC provides daily hoof cleaning, general inspection and when necessary application of first aid for minor injuries. Cost for full service horse care in the Main Barn is $685 per month. Lay-Up ServiceIn cooperation with local Equine Veterinary Clinics, MSEC provides lay-up board for injured horses that require special attention. We have three stalls and three small paddocks dedicated to lay-up horses.We care for your horse in strict compliance with your vet’s orders including administering medications, changing bandages, managing special diets, hand walking and whatever other treatments are prescribed. Finally, since we are not affiliated with any particular vet clinic, any vet can feel comfortable referring his or her customers to our facility. Basic lay-up board is $750 per month, but we generally adjust our fees on a case-by-case basis. Please call us to discuss your horse's particular circumstances.
